The National Testing Agency (NTA), University Grants Commission (UGC) and Ministry of Education are reportedly considering a major restructuring of the CUET UG 2027 examination format. The proposed changes aim to reduce student fatigue, travel requirements and administrative challenges by making the examination schedule more streamlined.

**Proposed CUET UG 2027 Exam Pattern**

Under the draft proposal, authorities are considering an “One Student, One Day” model, under which candidates would complete all their selected papers on a single examination day.

**Parameter**

**Current Format**

**Proposed CUET UG 2027**

**Exam Schedule**

12–15 days/multiple sessions

**One Student, One Day**

**Maximum Subjects**

Up to 5 subjects

**Maximum 4 subjects**

**Paper Duration**

60 minutes

**40–45 minutes**

**Questions per Paper**

50 questions

**35–40 questions**

**Total Test Duration**

Around 5 hours

**Around 3 hours 20 minutes**

**Subject Grouping Under Consideration**

Authorities are also exploring 10–12 subject groups based on commonly selected subject combinations. The proposed grouping system could help streamline scheduling and make it possible for students to complete their selected papers on a single day.

**Faster Exam, Greater Time Pressure**

Although the proposed format would reduce the number of questions and the duration of each paper, students may face greater time pressure. With only 40–45 minutes per paper, candidates would need to demonstrate strong speed, accuracy and time-management skills.

**Possible Changes to CUET PG**

The proposed restructuring may also affect CUET PG. Discussions are reportedly underway to remove certain low-demand postgraduate courses from the entrance examination and allow universities to admit students to these programmes through merit-based admissions.

**Important Note**

The above changes are based on a draft proposal under consideration. They should not be treated as the final CUET UG 2027 examination pattern until an official notification is issued by the concerned authorities.

Students planning to appear for CUET UG 2027 should continue preparing according to the existing officially available information and watch for NTA and UGC announcements regarding the final examination structure.
