The National Commission for Allied & Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) has officially announced that NEET will be a basic eligibility requirement for admission to all Allied and Healthcare undergraduate courses starting from the 2026–27 academic year. The Commission has advised Central, State, and UT education boards to inform schools and institutions that students seeking admission to Allied and Healthcare UG programs after completing their Senior Secondary education must appear for NEET, in addition to meeting other eligibility criteria.

NEET is already mandatory for admission into Undergraduate Physiotherapy programs. In its draft curriculum, the Interim Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (ICAHP) specified that all students entering Physiotherapy courses “must have appeared in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET).” With the latest directive, NEET now serves as a unified entry requirement for a wide range of Allied Health Science programs across India, including Nursing, Physiotherapy, and various paramedical courses, ensuring standardized eligibility and improved academic quality nationwide.
